Prof. Kumud Sharma is a distinguished Hindi scholar, academic, literary critic, and media expert. She has had a long academic career at the University of Delhi, where she served as a senior professor and headed the Department of Hindi. She holds a Ph.D. from Allahabad University and a D.Litt. from Ranchi University. Her areas of interest include modern Hindi literature, feminist discourse, media studies, and social issues.
In March 2025, Prof. Sharma was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV), Wardha, becoming the university's first woman Vice-Chancellor. She has also served as Vice-President of the Sahitya Akademi and has authored several books and research articles.
