Manik Kumar

Dr. Manik Kumar is an Assistant Professor in Govind Ballabh Pant Social Science Institute. He completed his MA and Ph.D. in Economics from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). For his doctoral degree he worked on a thesis titled “Home Based Worker in Non Agriculture Sector in India”. He has published several papers indexed in ABDC and SCOPUS. One of his papers was among top five papers in the 59th Annual Conference organised by Indian Society of Labour Economics.
Prior to joining GBPSSI, he worked as a Policy Analyst at the Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability. He has been a consultant in “Programme on Poverty and Inequality” with Prof. Jens Lerche, School of Oriental and African Studies, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, University of London. He also worked as a Research Associate at the National Institute of Rural Development (Hyderabad), Ministry of Rural Development.
His areas of research interest include Political Economy, Informal economics, economics of discrimination, caste and gender economics. He is skilled in tackling both primary and secondary (Unit level NSS and IHDS) data. He is also seasoned in the use of STATA and CsPro.
